Comprehensive Rehabilitation Organization And Service Society (CROSS)
CROSS is an umbrella under which we have , Happy Home integrated project. CROSS is a duly registered organisation which began its work since 1991 among the differently able children. Happy Home caters to the care of special children who are physically handicapped, visually impaired, hearing impaired, mentally retarded, orphaned, semi orphaned and also children from below poverty line. It also caters to spastic children and multi category children
Beginnings of Happy Home.
Happy Home started in the year 1991, with just 5 handicapped children
(3 orthopedically) handicapped children and 2 visually impaired ) in KGF. Rev.Dr.J.Samuel is the founder of this society and all its programmers. He started this programme with a vision to make the Invalid children to valid children and thus build the Nation. Gradually the burden on the organisation started to rise as economically backward classes, Single Parent children and orphans started approaching us to enroll them. There was mother who you had to pledge her mangalsutra to educate a child, this moved us to start enrolling them. We had to move to bigger place to accommodate more children. The Paramount objective was taking care of children and their families holistically. Happy Home admits children based on age and family background irrespective of caste, religion and creed.
The program emphasizes on four fold activities where we give them Education, Nutrition, social education and imbibe moral values.
The Home is registered under JJ act and follows the guidelines laid down by them. We have 10 staff who take care of the children around the clock.
Many children have passed out with flying colours and placed at good jobs, to mention a few they have completed, graduation, post-graduation and skill development programs such as engineering courses, nursing courses paramedical courses and few have joined the Indian army.
Till the year 2016 we were funded. And CROSS had 5 projects, 3 residential projects and 2-day care centers in Vellore, Home for the Deaf and Deaf Blind, Thailand girls Home in Ambur and Happy Home integrated project at KGF.
At Vaniyampadi CROSS student center and KGF Mother and child development center. CROSS took care of 1500 children till 2016. After 2016 we didn’t receive any funds as government of India stopped the funds from Compassion International. All the other projects are closed and we are running only Happy Home project. We totally depend on local funds to cater to the needs of children.
Due to lack of funds we have 75 children on roll, who are very deserving. They are children of single parents, abandoned, destitute children, children referred by the CWC to fit Homes, and special children.

Food –Includes Nutritious food is provided with three meals and one snack.
Accommodation –we provide basic amenities such as cot, mattress, pillow with covers, blankets ,bed sheets, purified drinking water, 24-hour power supply, hot water,
School supplies: School bags, uniforms, notebooks, stationery, schooland college fees, travel expense to school, extra coaching classes.
Other supplies: colour dress, inner wear, handkerchief, sweaters, night dress, hygiene supplies such as bathing & washing soap, shampoo, sanitary napkins, disinfectant solutions, Hand sanitizers, hair oil, and talcum powder.
Extracurricular activities: Baradanatyam (Classical Dance) and Music classes ( Keyboard & violin), counselling sessions, awareness programs, Physical training, career guidance programs.
Medical- Monthly: medical checkup is organized to identify ailments, treat and give follow-up care.
Testimony
*A child (physically handicapped) who was found begging in railway station and referred by CWC, when she got admitted to Happy Home, she could not walk, within a span of 7 months, she was made to walk independently using calipers. Regular exercises, yoga and physiotherapy are given to this child. She and her sister hadn’t gone to school, now they are enrolled in school and are very interested in their studies.
*2 special child had difficulty in speech (stuttering), she was given speech therapy and now she has been improving in her speaking skill.
*1 child has speech impairment; he too is given therapy and is progressing well.
*A child with multiple disabilities is being trained to do his activities of daily living, gardening and cleaning.
*2 children lost their father 2 years back and a month ago lost their mother, now Happy Home is taking care of these two children by providing utmost care, love and affection.
* A visually impaired child who was rescued and placed in Happy Home has completed her pre university course and is now pursing her passion of singing and learning to play the keyboard.

To conclude
The home is registered under JJ act and follows the guidelines laid down by them. We have 14 staff that take care of the children around the clock. Now as per Juvenile Justice Act we need to have separate infrastructure for both girls and boys, we immediately need to build a separate building for boys, with lot of effort we have purchased a land, but need funds to build the building. We also must renovate the present building.

- Classrooms for 6th,7th, and 8th grade.

Social awareness programs are conducted to enrich the children in general knowledge, counselling is given for children and also music classes are taken for the children, various skills such as computers, stitching, national games are taught to the children.(children are in encouraged to participate in games at the school level and join NCC,which imbibes patriotism and encourages them to join the Indian Army and thus we work to Build our Nation).
Children have won many laurels that brings great honour to Happy Home .
